Amazon reveals $79 Kindle, ships today!

As if a $199 Kindle Fire wasn't enough, Amazon's also launching a Kindle e-reader that'll dip below triple-digits for the first time. You heard right -- a $79 Kindle (or £89 if you're unfortunate enough to be on that side of the pricing insanity). According to Bloomberg Businessweek, the company's Kindle line will "start" at the aforesaid price as of today, a marked decrease from the $114 being charged for its lowest end unit earlier in the week. If anything, that's a huge blow for Barnes & Noble, and we're surmising that a reactionary drop will be coming soon in the Nook family if it hopes to keep pace. We've also learned that this guy has ads built right in -- not a shocker given the price, but notable for those who aren't keen on buying a device that continually serves up commercials to justify the lower up-front tally. If you're looking to avoid the hassle, the non-ads variant is priced at $109.

Keep up with the unveiling at our liveblog of the Amazon event.

Update: We've added the first commercial video after the break.

Update 2: Orders are live!

Anna Faris answers film question "What's Your Number?" (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) ? Actress Anna Faris has been tickling the funny bones of audiences in films such as "The House Bunny" and on TV shows like "Friends" since the late 1990s. She has also shown versatility in movies like "Brokeback Mountain" and programs such as "Entourage."

This week, Faris stars in adult-oriented comedy "What's Your Number?" She plays Ally Darling, a single woman on a quest to marry, but having slept with 19 men she feels like one more would make her "unmarriageable." Soon, Ally learns marriage is not about numbers and love is closer than she thought.

Faris, 34, spoke with Reuters about the film, working in adult-oriented comedies, and co-starring with her real-life husband, Chris Pratt.

Q: Ally feels like one more guy in her bed means no ring on her finger. Is 20 too high or too low?

A: "When this script was at another studio, they thought 20 was too high. They wanted to make it 16. To me, I don't know if 20 is high enough! Don't you feel like it should be 70 or something? (laughs)"

Q: Hmmm, what are you saying? Or, more importantly, what are you implying about yourself?

A: "(Laughs) I didn't get out into the world early enough. Plus I had (orthodontic) head gear. If you want your child to stay a virgin, put them in headgear. That's guaranteed to keep your number down! (Laughs)"

Q: Your real-life husband, Chris Pratt, who is on TV's "Parks and Recreation" is also in the film as one of your past lovers. How was it working with him?

A: "We worked on 'Take Me Home Tonight' a few years back and then we worked again on this. He plays Disgusting Donald, who is sort of the catalyst to my character's journey. It was a blast working with him. He makes me laugh all the time. But it's also scary. I felt a little more vulnerable doing our scenes together because I'm always concerned about what he thinks. When it's somebody who's really close to you, you care about their opinion a little bit more."

Q: Out of all your character's past boyfriends, Ally's storyline with Disgusting Donald was the most chaste.

A: "Yeah. He's the one engaged to a really hot girl! (laughs) I'm like, 'Wait, you guys are going to kiss, again?'"

Q: Ah, but Ally has plenty of bedroom scenes with numerous men. How does your husband feel about you shooting those?

A: "He's really supportive and so proud. As actors, we don't show up on the days when the other is supposed to be intimate with another person. I wouldn't want my husband sitting behind the cameras while I'm in bed with Zach Quinto or Joel McHale. Chris is so great about that."

Q: You executive produced this movie. What did that entail, other than being able to cast your husband?

A: "It means I also get to pick out what kind of donuts the crew is going to eat. (Laughs) It was a really collaborative process. I was always asked my opinion. They asked me about my choice of directors, actors, wardrobe -- everything. I have a lot of trust in people who are more experienced than I am."

Q: "What's Your Number" is rated R in the United States. After successes with other R-rated, adult-oriented, female comedies this past summer like "Bridesmaids" with Kristen Wiig and "Bad Teacher" with Cameron Diaz, are you feeling pressure to keep that streak going?

A: "It's always terrifying. Kristin Wiig and I are friends, and I'm so proud of her. I'm so excited that there's now this gang of female comediennes. Conventional wisdom in Hollywood was that women (moviegoers) wanted to see something specific out of women. What this summer has done is flip that on its head. You can't define a gender's sense of humor."

Q: When you were shooting "What's Your Number?" did you know there would be this wave or R-rated, woman comedies?

A: "When we shot this last summer, the R-rated female comedy was still dangerous territory. In the past when I've pitched comedies, the first question from the studio was always, 'What's it rated? It's got to be PG-13.' Now the conversation is completely changing."

Q: Ironically, the movie that put you on the map over 10 years ago was the R-rated "Scary Movie." Are you comfortable in this niche or do you long to break out of it?

A: "Quick -- somebody put me in a biopic, please! (laughs) It was really hard for me to break out of the 'Scary Movie' genre, and I used to feel like I needed to do something dramatic or some weird, dark independent film to be taken seriously. But I really love comedy and weirdly enough, I love how my journey has ended up. I get to laugh all day long."

Gamer Escape ? Gaming Community featuring News, Wikis ...

City Of Heroes is looking mighty gray these days, the 2004 MMO standing the test of time longer than many of it?s competitors.

Of course, like all MMO?s, it?s numbers are dwindling. So enters City Of Heroes: Freedom, a F2P version of the game that likely hopes to draw in new players, and keep the title afloat for at least a little while longer. Naturally, there are some drawbacks for players that choose to play under the free model:

Free Players are restricted from certain systems within the game (alignment change, Day Jobs, Mission Architect, and so on), and they will not receive any live support unless they upgrade to VIP Player status. They can still access self-help support.

No surprise here, but I can see the game being a lethargic way to burn a weekend before you move on to something new. Besides, F2P is economical in times where your wallet is empty, and your collection of games has already been thoroughly ravaged and conquered.

Typhoon kills 16 in Philippines, floods Manila

Downtown areas along Manila Bay saw their worst flooding in decades as a powerful typhoon dumped rain and sent surging waves as tall as palm trees crashing over sea walls.

At least 16 people were killed, most of them in metropolitan Manila, which already was soaked by heavy monsoon rains ahead of Typhoon Nesat's arrival.

The victims included a 22-month-old boy, Reuters reported. Large portions of Manila were without power.

'It's flooded everywhere'
Pounding rains obscured the view of anyone on the streets as soldiers and police scrambled to safely evacuate thousands of people in low-lying areas, where rivers and the sea spilled into shanties, hospitals, swanky hotels and even the seaside U.S. Embassy compound, which was closed Tuesday.

"It's flooded everywhere. We don't have a place to go for shelter. Even my motorcycle got filled with water," said motorist Ray Gonzales, one of thousands stranded by fast-rising floodwaters.

The massive flooding came exactly a day after this sprawling, coastal city of 12 million held commemorations for the nearly 500 people killed during a 2009 cyclone, which dumped a month's rainfall in just 12 hours.

Some residents acted more quickly this time to evacuate homes as waters rose, including in the Manila suburb of Marikina where 2,000 people escaped the swelling river by flocking to an elementary school, carrying pets, TV sets, bags of clothes and bottled water.

"We can replace things, but not people's lives," said janitor Banny Domanais, arriving at the school with his wife and three young daughters.

Typhoon Nesat hit ashore before dawn Tuesday in eastern provinces and headed inland just north of Manila with up to an inch of rain per hour, half that of the storm two years ago, said government forecaster Samuel Duran.

The geography of the archipelago makes it a welcome mat for about 20 storms and typhoons forming in the Pacific each year but the latest onslaught still caught many by surprise.

In all, authorities ordered more than 100,000 people across the country to shelter from Typhoon Nesat's rains, winds of 75 mph and gusts of up to 93 mph ? enough to bend street signs.

Along downtown Manila's historic baywalk, cars and buses were stuck and residents struggled through floodwaters as waves washed over the seawall, turning a six-lane highway into a huge brown river. Sidewalks and entrances to buildings were swamped and vehicles stranded along narrow streets.

Manila Hospital moved patients from its ground floor, where waters were neck-deep, spokeswoman Evangeline Morales said. Hospital generators were flooded and the building had no power since early Tuesday. Emergency workers evacuated river areas in the city that are notorious for flooding.

An Associated Press photographer said soldiers and police in trucks moved thousands of residents, mostly women and children, from the Baseco shanty facing Manila port after many houses were washed away. Male family members were reluctant to leave saying they wanted to guard their property.

The Philippine Stock Exchange and U.S. Embassy were also closed Tuesday. Waters at the gates of the embassy compound, which is located along Manila Bay, reached chest-deep.

"There was some flooding in the embassy, I don't know the extent. I'm not there right now," said embassy spokeswoman Tina Malone. She said employees on their way Tuesday turned around when told of a decision to close the embassy.

The Sofitel Philippine Plaza relocated its guests after flooding damaged areas of the high-end hotel on the shores of Manila Bay. Sirinate Meenakul, the hotel's regional communications director, said no guests or staff were injured. She did not say how many guests were there.

Billboard falls onto bus
Residents in one neighborhood of Quezon City, a Manila suburb, fled their homes due to rising water from the nearby San Mateo River, and evacuations were under way along the Marikina River.

Toby Tiangco, the mayor of flood-prone Navotas, part of the greater Manila area, said it was the first time that water overcame the dike protecting the town.

In the financial district of Makati, a billboard fell on two cars and a bus, causing injuries.

Seasonal monsoon rains have been accumulating and "typhoon winds, strong waves could have pushed water inland," Duran, the forecaster, told AP. "Land is saturated with rain so the next rain became run-off and was already floodwater," he said.

Francis Tolentino, chairman of Metro Manila Development Authority, which encompasses the capital's 17 cities, blamed the storm surge for the Manila Bay flooding.

"The wind was so strong so the seawater overflowed and flowed past the embankment and couldn't flow back to the bay because of the embankment," he said, adding that a high tide developing later Tuesday also played a role.

President Benigno Aquino III, on a state visit to Japan, issued a statement saying he had instructed authorities to compile all information about the flooding.

He said the government had carried out preventive evacuations in the central Philippines. Nearly half of the Luzon areas served by the main power distributor were without electricity due to tripping caused by high winds, he said.

"I'm in constant touch with these members of my Cabinet and the executive secretary has been instructed to keep me and the public informed of conditions pertaining as well as mitigation efforts," Aquino said.

12-foot-high waves
The first reported death was a 1-year-old who drowned in the central island province of Cataduanes after falling into a river, the government disaster agency reported. As the typhoon moved into Manila, a mother and child were killed when their house was hit by a falling tree in the suburb of Caloocan, and four were reported killed by a collapsing wall in the suburb of Valenzuela.

Four fishermen were missing while more than 50 others were rescued along eastern shores after their boats overturned in choppy seas.

Forecasters warned of 12-foot-high waves.

A tornado in Isabela's Maconancon town ripped off the roofs of at least five houses, injuring two people, police said.

With its immense 400-mile cloud band, the typhoon threatened to foul weather across the entire main island of Luzon as it moves across the Philippines toward the South China Sea late Wednesday or early Thursday toward southern China.

The Associated Press and Reuters contributed to this report.

Surging Rays top Yankees, remain tied with Red Sox (AP)

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. ? The Tampa Bay Rays are loose and raring to go, ready to work overtime ? if necessary ? to win the AL wild card.

"Whatever it takes," designated hitter Johnny Damon said. "It's been a fun ride and hopefully it continues."

The Rays' improbable bid for a third playoff berth in four years comes down to the final day of the regular season after Tuesday night's 5-3 victory over the New York Yankees left them tied for the wild card with Boston. The reeling Red Sox held off the Baltimore Orioles 8-7.

If the teams remain tied after Wednesday night's season finales, they will meet in a one-game playoff at Tropicana Field on Thursday afternoon.

"We have to focus on ourselves ... play our game and not worry about the other side of it," manager Joe Maddon said. "That will eventually take care of itself."

Matt Joyce and Ben Zobrist homered, the bullpen shut down the Yankees after starter Jeremy Hellickson pitched six strong innings, and the Rays kept the score close by turning the third triple play in franchise history.

Throw in Joyce, whose three-run homer wiped out a 3-2 deficit in the seventh ? playing on an injured foot ? and that the Rays were without Casey Kotchman after the first baseman experienced tightness in his chest and was taken to a hospital for tests, and no wonder Tampa Bay feels it has no limits.

"All the indicators are there, let's just keep pushing," Maddon said. "When those things kind of show up, it really promotes even more fight, I think. There's more of a believability about the moment."

Joyce's homer off former teammate Rafael Soriano (2-3) was the All-Star's first in more than three weeks. Zobrist hit a two-run drive off Bartolo Colon in the second, and the Rays kept the Yankees from busting the game opened with the triple play that bailed Hellickson out of a bases-loaded jam in the sixth.

"Everybody's thirsty for offense, and we'd like to score more," Maddon said. "But we're built around pitching and defense."

Jake McGee (4-2) pitched one scoreless inning to get the win. With a crowd of 22,820 standing and cheering, Kyle Farnsworth got the final three outs for his 25th save in 31 chances. The victory was the fourth straight for Tampa Bay, which trailed the Red Sox by nine games before battling back into the wild-card race.

Russell Martin hit a solo homer for the Yankees in the third, but also grounded into the triple play that prevented them from building on the 3-2 lead Nick Swisher gave them with a RBI double.

The Yankees, who clinched the division title and homefield advantage throughout the AL playoffs last week, rested Derek Jeter and plan to play most ? if not all ? of their regular lineup again on Wednesday. Manager Joe Girardi remained undecided on a starting pitcher for the finale, but it figures to be a reliever.

Tampa Bay will go with All-Star lefty David Price, who's 12-13 after finishing second in balloting for the AL Cy Young Award a year ago.

The Rays said he's up to the task.

"I always have the utmost confidence when David pitches. I really do," Maddon said. "Every time he pitches we feel like we're going to win that night. I know some things have not necessarily gone his way this year, but in a very tight moment, you always feel very comfortable about how David will pitch."

Despite squandering their big lead with a miserable September, the Red Sox are excited about still having a chance to make the postseason on the final day.

"I think it's really good for baseball (but) not so good for my stomach," Boston manager Terry Francona said. "It's exciting. If you don't want to show up (Wednesday) and play, you've got no pulse."

Resume Companion Reviews - JobGoRound.com

Resume Companion is a unique online resume builder which has been designed to make creating a professional resume simple, regardless of how much experience you have writing your own resumes. Additionally, there are a number of certified resume writers on staff which you can get advice from. Here?s a closer review of Resume Companion and what it has to offer.

Overview of Resume Companion

There is both a free and paid Resume Companion service. The free service will give you all of the essential functions you need to create a resume, however you will lack full access to some of the other tools provided on the website. There are several different subscription plans that you can choose from in order to get the Pro version. The first is a short five day trial for $4.95. It is important to note that with this option your subscription will auto renew at $29.95 per month. The free trial provides you with a majority of the full feature set, but not all of them. You have the ability to skip the five day trial and subscribe directly for $29.95. This will provide you with all of the Pro subscription features. The final option is a three month subscription plan which is billed as a single payment of $68.85, which works out to $22.95 per month.

Resume Companion Resume Builder

The resume builder is definitely the cornerstone of this service. Compared to a number of other resume builders there are a few unique features which make it uniquely beneficial to use. There are four basic steps. The first is simply entering your contact information as well as a password in case you want to save your work and access it later. The next step is entering your professional experience. You start by entering the basic employer information and position title. Next you can add bullet points under each position. This is where the ResumeCompanion resume builder starts providing additional value. Instead of coming up with these bullet points yourself, you can do a search by occupation which will provide you with multiple bullet points which are commonly used by professional resume writers. In total, the database of bullet points totals more than 50,000. From there you will then enter your education and additional skills data. These sections have an area for you to add additional bullet points as well.

Along with the ability to add bullet points automatically, this resume builder offers you a step-by-step method to craft a professional looking resume within a matter of minutes. Plus, the bullet point feature that is offered will ensure that your resume has the applicable keywords that are commonly looked for on resumes within your industry. By ensuring that you have those keywords, you can dramatically improve the chances that your resume will get through the initial screening process.

Resume Companion Cover Letter and Business Letter Builder

Along with the resume builder, you will also get access to a cover letter and business letter builder. To use the services, you start by selecting your professional template, adding your contact information, and then using professionally designed templates for all of the actual content of the cover letter or business letter. The best part is that the templates are designed so that the contact information that you provide is automatically integrated within the prewritten templates.

Review of Resume Companion

Overall, Resume Companion appears to offer a very flexible yet powerful resume builder. Along with being competitively priced the unique features not only ensure that you create a professional resume but that you can do so within a matter of minutes instead of stressing over it for hours.

Television released a statement on Monday, Sept. 26, 2011 saying that Sheen's lawsuit against the studio and series executive producer Chuck Lorre had been settled "to the parties' satisfaction." (AP Photo/Dan Krauss, file)

(AP) ? The studio that fired former "Two and a Half Men" star Charlie Sheen said Monday it has struck a deal with the actor to end their legal dispute.

Warner Bros. Television released a statement saying that Sheen's lawsuit against the studio and series executive producer Chuck Lorre has been settled "to the parties' satisfaction." The statement said terms of the settlement are confidential.

Sheen had filed a $100 million lawsuit for wrongful termination against Warner after his firing last March. His attorney, Marty Singer, had said much of that amount was the actor's share of DVD, syndication and other profits that the studio was withholding.

Singer said he could not discuss specifics of the settlement, but he said all parties were satisfied with the resolution.

The Los Angeles Times reported Sheen's settlement would be $25 million, although celebrity website TMZ reported the deal would be worth roughly $100 million over the next several years. Both outlets cited unnamed sources in reports about the settlement amounts.

Sheen was fired at a time when he was the highest-paid actor in television, with a per-episode salary reported to be between $1.2 million and $2 million. His exit cut short the CBS comedy's season.

By then, Sheen had been on a media blitz for weeks, using catchphrases such as "Tiger Blood" and "winning" and describing himself as a warlock.

The case never became the forum for Sheen's grievances that the actor said he was seeking ? most of the court proceedings centered on whether the dispute should be heard through private arbitration, as called for in the actor's contract. A judge determined that the case should be moved to arbitration in June and attorneys had been working through that process.

Sheen has distanced himself from his previous outlandish behavior in recent weeks and has acknowledged he was at least partly responsible for his ouster from television's top-rated comedy.

"It was bad," Sheen told "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno, "and I own my part in that, and I just want to make everything right."

Appearing last week at the Emmy Awards as a presenter, he addressed the "Two and a Half Men" cast and crew, saying, "I wish you nothing but the best for this upcoming season."

"Men" returned to the air last week with Ashton Kutcher joining the cast as a new character. He plays an Internet billionaire who decides to buy the house that had been owned by Sheen's now-deceased character.

A phone message for Lorre's attorney Howard Weitzman was not immediately returned.

Because the small business accounting software reviews that you see on the web or on any of the magazines, you will know the intentions of the writer within the first few sentences.

Colon Cancer: Are You At Risk?

Colon cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers for both men and women in the Untied States. It is important that you understand your risk for developing this disease, as well as lifestyle changes you can make now to reduce your chances of falling victim to colon cancer.

Cancer of the large intestine, or colon, typically begins as small clumps of cells called adenomatous polyps. Often, these small polyps form in your colon and produce few, if any, symptoms. If they are not removed, they may eventually become cancerous. This is why physicians recommend routine screening to identify and remove polyps before they become a problem.

One of the best ways to prevent death from colon cancer is to have regular screenings. Because more than 90% of all colorectal cancers are found in people who are 50 and older, the American Cancer Society recommends that you start getting routine colon screenings at age 50. If you have a family history of this disease, your physician may recommend that you start screening earlier.

Three of the most common screenings for colon cancer include a stool test, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and colonoscopy. Your physician will make recommendations for how often you should have these tests administered.

Aside from age, there are some other risk factors that may make you more susceptible to developing colon cancer. Some of these factors include:

?

  • Race
  • African-Americans have a higher risk for developing this disease than people of other races
  • Family history
  • Parents, siblings, and children of a person diagnosed with colon cancer are at a higher risk than the average person of developing the disease themselves.
  • Personal history of polyps or cancer
  • Inflammatory intestinal conditions
  • Two of the most common conditions are ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease
  • High fat, low fiber diet
  • Obesity
  • Sedentary lifestyle
  • Diabetes
  • Smoking
  • Heavy use of alcohol

?

While some of these risk factors, like race and age, cannot be changed, there are some lifestyle alterations that you can make to reduce your chance of developing this type of cancer. Keep in mind that just because you have one or more of these risks, it does not mean you will develop colon cancer. You should talk with your physician about these risk factors so that he or she can provide adequate screening and give you suggestions for a healthy lifestyle.

Many people exhibit few, if any, symptoms of colon cancer in the early stages of the disease. As it progresses, patients may notice unexplained weight loss, persistent abdominal discomfort, a change in their bowel habits, rectal bleeding, blood in their stool, weakness, or excessive fatigue. The only way to truly know if you have colon cancer is through screenings and tests administered by your physician.

Alternative Business Financing Solution For Commercial Business ...

You have got your business up and running. However, you find that you need more money to expand your operations, take on new clients, meet business debts, keep up with payroll and other expenses, or capture another prime piece of business. So, what will you do? Your first thought is to talk with your banker to apply for a commercial loan. Yes, you could approach your local business loan officer in hopes of trying - yes, trying - to get him or her to see the value of your business and to appreciate your ability to repay the loan. However, in today's business climate, you realize that this is not as straightforward as it may seem on the surface.

Given the most recent economic turn down, in today's business climate, getting a bank loan is more difficult than it has been in recent memory. So, you know that your chances of scoring a loan is slim, at best. You also realize that your credit rating is not sterling. Therefore, in the slim chance that you are offered a loan, it will come with an interest rate much higher than one you would have received had your credit been healthier.

Additionally, given your current financial situation, you realize that, in the event you are offered a loan, it will undoubtedly be one "secured" by a portion of your business interests. In effect, the bank will become your silent partner. In fact, the bank may require that you pledge your personal assets, such as your home, personal real estate, etc, as a condition for receiving the loan. All of these possibilities, added together, make for a very unappetizing situation. There may be a better option readily available to you.

That option is called "alternative business financing". This type of financing is so called because it is an "alternative" to normal bank lending. In fact, most forms do not require any banking interaction at all. Some of the more popular form include inventory finance, asset-based lending and export-import trade finance (...which we will discuss in other articles in this series). However, the most widely-used form of alternative business financing is called "factoring".

Essentially, factoring involves you, the company owner, using your accounts receivable to acquire an advance from a private, non-banking financial entity. Factoring has proven itself a winner for many small and medium-sized businesses and a major means for business owners foregoing the business loan process.

The process works like this: If you, as a business owner, offer terms (30, 60, 45, 90 days, etc) to your customers, you will receive accounts receivable (essentially, an I.O.U) from those customers. You will keep the receivable until the customer pays. Meanwhile, you will be out of the dollar value of the receivable until your customers pay. This is where factoring come in. With factoring, you can receive an advance of up to 85% of the accounts receivables value. Once the customer pays, you will get the remainder of the accounts receivable value, minus the factor's small financing fee (...normally, 1-3% per each 30-day period). This is not a loan, but an advance.

With this advance, you will have ready access to your own cash to expand your business, take on new clients, pay business debts, keep up with payroll, meet other expenses, capture additional prime pieces of business, etc. Factoring has been used extensively by business persons to avoid the hassle and complications of getting expensive, commercial business loans.

With factoring, there is no need to pledge any type of personal or business assets; (because it is not a loan)no money need be paid back ; factoring fees are normally reasonable; the factoring process is rather simple; and there is no possibility of taking on a silent partner.

Before you attempt to get a commercial business loan, investigate the possibility of alternative business financing. Look closely at factoring as a possible way of avoiding the need for a commercial loan.

Timeshare Cancellation Saving Thousands....thousands!

Let's face it, as a nation and world wide, we've been dealing with a financial recession for a [spin]few years. This financial recession has lead to many timeshare owners dealing with financial hardships. Knowing that if they sell their timeshares they won't get enough money to pay the timeshare mortgages, a great deal of Americans feel that going into foreclosure will be their best bet. Until...Timeshare cancellation comes into the picture.

Timeshare elimination is a legal process that has provided an amazing amount of consumers with relief over the past few years. The process although simple by nature seems a bit difficult for several consumers to believe is possible. This is understandable because timeshare elimination does the remarkable task of deeding a timeshare back to the developer based on discrepancies in the sales process. Also, since timeshare cancellation follows a process that puts the developer in the wrong, many Americans actually recover a portion or all of the money spent for the timeshare. For the Americans who have been attempting to sell their timeshares and give them back to the developers for years, this is a hard fact to take.

Most consumers are probably thinking If I've been trying to do this for years, what makes a timeshare cancellation company so special. Well, lets look at it from a different point of view. How a lot of Americans do you know that would go to court without an attorney? Consumers feel comfortable hiring an attorney for court because, they feel as though that attorney knows what they need to to win the case. The legal process of timeshare elimination is no different. Although, Americans may try to cancel their timeshares on their own, many of them don't know the laws that make it possible.

As a matter of fact, there are 52 rules that timeshare sales representatives must follow when selling timeshares to consumers. Although, I probably won't be allowed to type out a whole legislation on this website (too many words) here are the most commonly broken rules:

Tours longer than an hour and a half: Studies show that people who look at a luxury product for longer than 90 minutes, they feel more of a sense of urgency to buy that product without rational thought. Therefore, it is unlawful for timeshare sales representatives to sell a timeshare after a presentation that lasts longer than 90 minutes.

Creating a rush situation: Many timeshare sales representatives rush consumers into making a decision by providing a false sense of urgency, asking them to skim over the paperwork instead of reading it and other tactics. These tactics are not tolerated in the court of law!

Because of all of the legalities associated with timeshares, it is advisable that Americans hire a professional for this process. Remember, don't go to court without an attorney! However, before you choose any company to help, it is important to do your research and make sure that the company is on the up and up!

Philippine VoIP Networking, Taking the Philippines Islands to the ...

Let's set eyes on what Abraham has to reveal concerning Philippine VoIP Networking, Taking the Philippines Islands to the Nest Step in Communication Technology. It's only at present that folks are beginning to know regarding VOIP, talking about it on much bigger degree. Earlier this topic was not that talked about. Essentially because people associated with the matter did not do enough. Obtain thorough advantage of invaluable information in this piece of writing and please take time to appreciate it wholly instead of just skimming through it.

This and lots of additional reports here are written by Abraham David. If you would like to take this article please link back to this web page. Article on "Philippine VoIP Networking, Taking the Philippines Islands to the Nest Step in Communication Technology" starts after this.

Article Starts from Here:

The Challenge

Companies are constantly looking for ways to fix their complex phone communication expenses while further improving their capacity on call handling. Oftentimes, there are cases wherein companies receive calls more than what their phone trunk lines can handle. Such problem is usually left unattended by companies due to budget constraints.

The Solution

Traditionally, the Public Switched Telephone Network, or the PSTN, supports the operation of telephone calls. PSTN was developed to assist voice communications. However, voice transmissions, which are packet-based, were not initially intended to support voice transmissions. So, to make the transmission of voice over data networks possible, the following things have to be made:

1. The voice signals must first be transformed into data packets.
2. Then, these packets must be able to transmit over the network without or very minimal delay.
3. Finally, the data packets must be converted back into voice signals in the right chronological sequence.

VoIP, or Voice over Internet Protocol, is one application that can perform all of the above. With the VoIP technology, voice can travel over a data network. The data network receives a voice signal by means of an interconnection linking a data networking device, like a router, and a telephony device, for instance a fax, PABX, or phone. With VoIP, the router is able to translate the voice signals into data packets. To ensure a minimal delay in the transmission to their destination, the data packets are given high priorities. When the packets reach the receiving end, a router which is also using VoIP translates the data packets back into regular voice signals. Then, they are passed into data networking devices, such as PABX?s, telephones or the PSTN. Because telephony devices are allowed to communicate with each other through existing data networks, VoIP does not require the installation of another set of transmission lines specifically designed for voice communications.

VoIP does not consume a large portion of bandwidth of a data network. Usually, a conversation occupies only 11 kilobits per second at most. In addition, it is only while the call is ongoing where the network bandwidth is used up. That is why companies utilize their corporate data network to make multimedia applications such as web conferencing.

VoIP Enlarged

The Voice over Internet Protocol may be defined as the process of routing voice signals over IP-based networks or the internet. Other terms which refer to this technology are Broadband Phone, Internet telephony, IP telephony, and Voice over Broadband.

VoIP is termed as the internet?s ?next best thing?. This is because VoIP is popularly growing in demand among consumers and businessmen. Basically, with VoIP, users can get away from the high costs of telephone calls.

Today?s VoIP service providers are offering overseas calls for as little as three centavos per minute. This is a very great deal especially for those who have relatives or business partners abroad. This VoIP service is really cheap, but customers do not have to worry about experiencing low quality service. VoIP has been greatly improved over the last few years.

As the telephone companies in the Philippines are troubled by the growing competition with cell phone networks and by the lessening demand for landlines, VoIP is projected to land with good market opportunities. A number of major companies in the country are already developing VoIP locations. It is with a wider VoIP network that the benefits of the technology can be maximized.

Before we go on with the article let me reveal that anything in this article on "Philippine VoIP Networking, Taking the Philippines Islands to the Nest Step in Communication Technology"is my opinion, please do your research before taking any action. Proper consultant on "Philippine VoIP Networking, Taking the Philippines Islands to the Nest Step in Communication Technology" should be consulted before taking any action. OvalEgg.com is not responsible for any damages of any kind that may arise from applying information contained in this article.

However, as it would have been expected, the telephone companies have expressed their persistent opposition against VoIP. Obviously, with VoIP continuously drawing demand from the public, these companies fear the idea of slicing off large bits from their revenues.

The VoIP, however, also entail some drawbacks and implementation challenges. Some of which include the issues of power outage concerns, problems with sending fax communications, reliability and security concerns, and regular reliance upon the use of internet service. But considering the advantages that VoIP has to offer, these drawbacks seem to be minor.

The Voice over Internet Protocol, just like other technologies, undergoes constant development to meet the demands of the customers. Surely, it really is the next big thing. Have your own experience of the VoIP. Don?t get yourself lagging behind.

Thanks for spending time on this article. If you are planning to take this composition for your use in any way, please link back to this page. I hope you liked what I wrote on "Philippine VoIP Networking, Taking the Philippines Islands to the Nest Step in Communication Technology". AP IMPACT: Hospital drug shortages deadly, costly (AP)

TRENTON, N.J. ? A severe shortage of drugs for chemotherapy, infections and other serious ailments is endangering patients and forcing hospitals to buy life-saving medications from secondary suppliers at huge markups because they can't get them any other way.

An Associated Press review of industry reports and interviews with nearly two dozen experts found at least 15 deaths in the past 15 months blamed on the shortages, either because the right drug wasn't available or because of dosing errors or other problems in administering or preparing alternative medications.

The shortages, mainly involving widely-used generic injected drugs that ordinarily are cheap, have been delaying surgeries and cancer treatments, leaving patients in unnecessary pain and forcing hospitals to give less effective treatments. That's resulted in complications and longer hospital stays.

Just over half of the 549 U.S. hospitals responding to a survey this summer by the Institute for Safe Medication Practices, a patient safety group, said they had purchased one or more prescription drugs from so-called "gray market vendors"_ companies other than their normal wholesalers. Most also said they've had to do so more often of late, and 7 percent reported side effects or other problems.

Hospital pharmacists "are really looking at this as a crisis. They are scrambling to find drugs," said Joseph Hill of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

A hearing on the issue was set for Friday before the health subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. The Food and Drug Administration is holding a meeting Monday with medical and consumer groups, researchers and industry representatives to discuss the shortages and strategies to fight them.

The FDA says the primary cause of the shortages is production shutdowns because of manufacturing problems, such as contamination and metal particles that get into medicine.

Other reasons:

? Companies abandoning the injected generic drug market because the profit margins are slim. Producing these sterile medicines is far more complicated and expensive than stamping out pills, and it can take about three weeks to produce a batch. Making things worse, companies don't have to notify customers or the FDA that they've stopped making a medicine. That means neither FDA nor competitors can try to fill the gap.

? Only a half-dozen companies make the vast majority of injected generics. Even if other companies wanted to begin making a generic drug in short supply, they're discouraged by the lengthy, expensive process of setting up new manufacturing lines and getting FDA approval.

? Theft of prescription drugs from warehouses or during shipment.

? Secondary, "gray market" vendors who buy scarce drugs from small regional wholesalers, pharmacies or other sources and then market them to hospitals, often at many times the normal price. These sellers may not be licensed, authorized distributors.

Hospitals that buy scarce medicines from the "gray market" are taking a gamble.

The drugs may be stolen and hospitals can't always tell whether a medicine was properly refrigerated ? as required for many injectable drugs ? or whether it's past the expiration date, said Michael R. Cohen, a pharmacist and president of the institute. Either way, the active ingredient might have degraded and the drug might not work well or could harm the patient, he said.

Cohen attributes at least 15 recent deaths to drug shortages based on reports by medical personnel, but says many deaths and injuries go unreported.

In the worst known case, Alabama's public health department this spring reported nine deaths and 10 patients harmed due to bacterial contamination of a hand-mixed batch of liquid nutrition given via feeding tubes because the sterile pre-mixed liquid wasn't available.

So far this year, 210 drugs have been added to the list of drugs in short supply, one less than the total for all of last year, according to the University of Utah Drug Information Service, which tracks the shortages. That's triple the roughly 70 a year from 2003 to 2006, when shortages began to climb steadily.

"The shortages aren't resolving. They're piling up on top of existing ones," said Erin Fox, a pharmacist who manages the service. She said at least 55 drugs from shortages before this year are still unavailable or scarce.

The average price markup on drugs sold by secondary distributors was 650 percent, according to an Aug. 16 report by the Premier Healthcare Alliance, a group that helps U.S. hospitals and other health providers improve their patient care and finances. The report is based on an analysis of 636 unsolicited sales offers that were faxed and emailed to hospitals from secondary distributors in April and May.

Virtually every offer was for at least double the normal price, the survey found. The drugs with the highest markups were for critically ill patients needing anesthesia or other medicines for surgery or for emergency care, cancer, infectious diseases and pain management.

In an extreme case, one vendor was offering a generic drug for dangerously high blood pressure, normally priced at $25.90 per dose, for $1,200.

So far, hospitals have been absorbing the extra costs, but they'll soon have to start passing them on to insurers and patients, according to the American Hospital Association.

Hospitals sometimes have to cave in to save patients, according to Cohen and several hospital pharmacy directors.

The FDA says it must uphold quality standards but also works hard to prevent shortages.

"When FDA detects a contaminant, whether it be shards of glass or metal particles or an infectious agent, we have to take action to protect the public," said Dr. Peter Lurie, a senior adviser in the FDA commissioner's office.

When the agency orders a production shutdown, it urges other manufacturers to boost their output and expedites any approvals needed, said Valerie Jensen, associate director of FDA's drug shortage program. When raw materials used to make drugs are in short supply, the FDA tries to find new sources.

The agency averted 38 shortages last year, Jensen added.

Legislation pending in the House and Senate would increase penalties for drug thefts from warehouses and tractor-trailers. Another proposal, which has bipartisan support, would require drug manufacturers anticipating a shortage to immediately notify the FDA.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D.-Minn., the primary sponsor of the Senate version of the notification bill, said other solutions being considered include better tracking of medicine shipments, mandatory accreditation of distributors, stockpiling of key drugs and allowing routine imports of prescription drugs from countries such as Canada.

Distributors that supply about 90 percent of prescription drugs to hospitals buy direct from drug manufacturers and deliver only to customers with appropriate licenses, said John Parker, a spokesman for the Healthcare Distribution Management Association. He said HDMA members don't participate in the "gray market" but would not comment further.

The pitches hospitals get from the secondary distributors generally say they have small batches of specific drugs that are hard or impossible to find. "Are you enjoying this crazy `roller coaster ride' of pharmaceutical shortages? ... I utilize over 60 vendors to locate and procure needed pharmaceuticals to assist when you have shortage needs," one reads.

Several distributors who sent hospitals solicitations for scarce drugs didn't return calls from the AP. One representative said he wasn't authorized to discuss the issue.

One company, Novis Pharmaceuticals, defended the higher prices, saying secondary distributors have to charge far more because they don't get the big rebates manufacturers give primary distributors. They also have high costs to locate and transport batches of scarce drugs, although the company, which mainly distributes blood plasma, would not disclose its profit margin.

It's illegal for companies to create a monopoly or collude to create a medicine shortage and raise prices, and there's no evidence of that. There's no federal law against price-gouging on prescription drugs, according to the FDA, but it does urge pharmacists to report cases to its Office of Criminal Investigation. An agency spokeswoman said she could not discuss whether any cases are being investigated.

The top three wholesalers say they try to alleviate problems by working with drug manufacturers, updating hospitals on shortages and rationing scarce supplies by giving their regular hospital customers a portion of their normal order. McKesson Corp. and Cardinal Health Inc. say they halt sales to any smaller distributors found to be diverting drugs or otherwise breaking rules. AmerisourceBergen Corp. does background checks on customers.

The hospital association and other groups urge hospitals not to buy from unaccredited vendors, to insist on documentation of the drug's source if they must, and to report price gouging to state authorities. But only three states ? Kentucky, Maine and Texas ? have price-gouging laws that specifically cover medicines.

"Something has to be done here," said pharmacist Michael O'Neal, head of drug procurement for Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, which has had to purchase medicines from secondary suppliers about 70 times the past two years.

"This is unethical," he said. "We're talking about people's lives."
