Town of Union Flood Properties to be Bought Out
The Town of Union can move forward with a buyout of flood-destroyed homes.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency says final approval has been given for $17.5 million in funds for buying 176 properties submitted for the flood buy-out program.
The money will cover 75% of the cost, with the remainder coming from grants and from the property owners themselves.
Now, bids will be taken for appraising the properties to map out the allocations to individual owners.
The town plans to award those bids on February sixth.
There are informational meetings scheduled for residents, all at 7 p.m. at the Union town hall.? The first is for Westover residents on January 28th. The meeting for Endwell and West Corners residents is January 30th and the Fairmont Park meeting is scheduled for January 31st.
